Emmelev A/S had a fine visit this week. Students from Dalum Agricultural College, Dalum Landbrugsskole, have been on a shake-up trip, and they chose to visit one of the companies that process agricultural products – in this case rapeseed.
The students were informed about Emmelev A/S and also visited the company, where they got a good impression of how much is produced. Many tons of rapeseed go through the plant every day, and they were given a presentation about the reception of the rapeseed, the Oil Mill, about rapeseed cakes and biodiesel, aswell as the development over the years.
It was Henrik Madsen and Jens Briand Thomsen who showed around and explained.
Rapeseed forms the basis for the production of a number of products. This applies to rapeseed oil, where 80 percent is further processed into biodiesel, and therest is used in the fishing industry. In addition, protein-rich rapeseed cakes are used especially as feed for cattle and thus displace imported soy.
Emmelev A/S plays a role in the climate transition. Biodiesel in the transport sector, where it may be difficult to convert to other climate-friendly energy products within the next few years. Biodiesel can immediately be used as fuel for the heavy trucks that are already on the roads. Over the years, Emmelev has bee nvisited by many groups and emphasizes openness in relation to the surroundings. The last time young people visited was in June, when it was Nordvestfyns Landboungdom who put on an evening event at the company in Otterup.
