Rapeseed oil

You know it from the grocery store. But rapeseed oil is used for more than cooking. Pressed from rapeseed, it’s rich in Omega-3 fatty acids – and in possibilities.

Rapeseed oil is widely used in feed production, primarily mixed in fish feed and used in aquaculture.

At Emmelev, we refine the oil to use it in the production of glycerin and, most importantly, biodiesel: This oil is the key ingredient in becoming fossil free.

Down the drain? Not on our watch

Danish consumers enjoy rapeseed oil in the kitchen and in products like mayo and blended spreads. However, this usage only makes up about 1/3 of all the rapeseed oil produced in Denmark.

That means there’s an excess of rapeseed oil of approximately 220,000 tons per year.

Around half of that excess is exported out of the country. The other half is what Emmelev taps into, giving it an essential role to play in the fight for sustainability.

We utilize what would otherwise go to waste.

All our sustainability measures

As the oil is pressed from the rapeseed, we simultaneously produce rapeseed protein in the form of rapeseed cakes. Every bit of the oil is then made into either biodiesel or glycerin.

Pickup of your rapeseed

When the time approaches for the rapeseed to be harvested, there are some practical conditions that need to be in place before it gets underway. We are happy to help with planning regarding transport of your rapeseed.
